Raj Mahale

Raj has 25 years of experience as a corporate attorney with extensive experience structuring mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, and has in-depth knowledge on emerging market matters. He specializes in all aspects of legal structuring and due diligence, including fund formation and fundraising, acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, compliance and regulatory matters. His clients include small to medium sized companies to Fortune 1000 and multinationals, as well as investment funds, hedge funds, fund-of-funds, feeders, offshore funds, LBO funds, mezzanine and other pooled investment vehicles, and sovereign wealth funds.

Raj is Legal Counsel at SRA and a Partner at KPPB Law. He also serves as outside general counsel to several small to medium sized companies. Previously, Raj was a partner with Tannenbaum Halpern in the corporate/funds structuring group.

Prior to that he served as a chair of Cozen O’Connor’s India Practice Group and served as a partner in its corporate practice. Before Cozen O’Connor, he was a partner and co-chair of Kelley Drye & Warren’s India Practice Group.

Recent transactions include restructuring Staples, Inc.’s $500 million technology spend through various MSA’s, representing a sovereign wealth fund in it’s U.S. real estate and roll-up strategy, and advising a start-up analytics company from inception to close with a $1.8 billion valuation.

Raj graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in International Business and a B.A. in Political Science and has a J.D. with honors from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Martindale Hubbell and Chambers USA have recognized Raj for his corporate counsel practice, and he has been recognized as a Super Lawyer from 2010 to 2020. He lives in New Canaan, Connecticut.
